Having ben trying to make this a reliable daily driver for my wife (I rolled my 98 Explorer this morning), I'm left with this vac line running from the top of the t-case, an NP208, and into the engine bay. It's not hooked up yet, and I'm curious where/what it goes to, it's function, etc.
Ideas? Hook it up? Help!

I don't think the 208's have a vaccum line to them.. but the 229's do.. Sorry about your explorer.. how did that happen? Good luck

That will be the breather hose.
Like Calvin said, it's the breather hose. Hook the other end up some place high in the engine bay to keep water out of it. It should have a little plastic check valve in the end.

As to the wreck on the explorer, some jerk tailgate'd me for a few, then passed me on the right, then cut me off. I tapped the brakes, lost control, then went for a loop or four with wheels up. Not fun, I promise.
Thankfully, I'm A-ok. A couple scratches and a bruised knee, but nothing I can't sweat out.
Breather hose, ok. There ain't no plastic check valve though. Most of the plastic on this J20 needs replacing anyway.

You should be able to find the check valve at Napa, and while you are there get all new breather valves for the front and rear and trans if applicable and a bunch of hose then run them all up to your engine compartment and mount them to the firewall that way if you are to ford door deep water you won't get water where it id'nt post ta be.
