That piece is no big deal. It's just a piece of 1" radiused bent sheetmetal bolted to the bed. Doable at home and cake for a sheetmetal guy. I would start worrying more about the cab and frame, but luckily the frame is the same as a Townside.

Hell, I flew to Texas and drove it to SC for about $400 in gas and hotels! And then on to Chicago. That's how wary I am of buying a potential rust bucket from the midwest.

There is a '65 swb stepside J2000 for sale down in south texas for $2850 that I am considering if the deal falls through on a 78 Cherokee I'm looking at in the morning
loved the stepside in the "Tremors" movie

I put a "fun" bid on it when it first was listed on ebay, and currently still the high bidder. I didn't "intend" to actually win it, but I figured if I threw a bid out there and won, than cool! :)
