those arent a common part. Many people break them, as they are aluminum. I think a few people here have some. Maybe Pete does.

is there a was to do away w/ the alimunium ones. is there steel ones or a way to eliminate an adapter all together?

to get rid of the adpater you gota switch to a manual tranny, like a T18a or something. I dont recall any automatics useing the texas bolt patern, but I may be wrong there.

There was a post a while back, and i think somebody mentioned possibly making steel adpaters. But dont recall if it was set it stone or just a discussion on it.

hey stuka, i'm hoping to be up in the twain harte area tomorrow for a week, trying to get speedy out for his inaugural run. have to tell you that i'm plenty apprehensive since it hasn;t been out of the driveway for the year that i've had it and now its first run is a 2.5 hour trip thru a storm to the mountains, feel like i'm a few fries short of a happy meal with this one...

keep an eye peeled for the truck, but I don;t usually go down much further than east sonora -- not sure if thats within your stomping grounds. give a wave if you see us go past.

wish us luck

Sent you a e-mail mike.

and yesit technically has a adapter, but its steel, and is flat, its not a housing type thing like the th400-d20 adapter is.

The mounting tabs at the bottom? (that's where mine is broken).
I have only ever seen the pictures of PC's exploded adapter that fell apart in the housing area.
Stripped thread holes in the AL and snapped mounting tabs seem rather common, but I think they can be fixed and strengthened. When I switch mine out next week I have a plan, but am concerned that the heat from TIG welding the tabs back on and adding AL side gussets might distort the bearing area.

the snap ring inside of it broke and then some of the AL that holds the snap ring in place broke (me thinks)

That snap ring is a pain in the Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley to get out. And can be just as bad putting it back in. That may be what broke it in the first place, the PO might have "banged" the snap ring back into place or "pryed" it out.
