Dont remember ever seeing a thread like this...

So if you could build a J-10 for anything (street, DD, trails, etc) what would you build it for and what would it be like? Drivetrain, lift, tires, capabilities, etc?

I honestly cant say I have one single configuration in mind. I think Im just fishing for ideas here :drivin:

I bought my '7 J10 about 5 years ago for $250. It came with a 401 that threw a rod cap and everything was there including step bumper and dual tanks. I put a well used 360 in it and its my DD. Oh ya, its from Az. and the only rust on it is the floorboards where the windows were left down and the padding eat through. Already have Garys pans screwed in place.

I want to do a 2-4" lift and TBI it and will prolly leave it like that. I do plan to weld the floors in and do a frame off, but I need a garage first.

It would be fuel injected, the interior would be totally modernized..close to a GW, but more truck like..leather buckets, plush carpeting, even behind the seat..sound deadner all over...GPS/CB/Sat/DVD/CD/LCD Combo...(okay I made that up)...soft ride suspension...

It would have to be a Crewcab with a Brow and a Lorado interior.

It would be a crew cab with a Cummins and a 5 Spd with dual tanks and tires no bigger than 33's with Super Wagoneer style interior and trim with updated electrical.

31" or 33" four wheel anti lock disc brakes
fuel injection maybe turbo.

or mercedes 5 cylinder diesel turbo

Oh almost forgot, it has to be black

Well, the plans for my J20 include:

blast and paint frame
blast and paint entire truck, fixing rust spots
4" lift - not sure on tires yet
stock 360 with RV cam and headers, probably sticking with a carb
new exhaust with a "streetable" muffler
stock 44 front and 60 rear with lockers - may need to re-gear depending on tires
bestop bucket seats on manual sliders
tuffy center console
new vinyl mat floor
stock t-18
stock 208

Just a good all around work truck that you can tow and wheel with. Nothing too hard core.

this goes for any old jeep: galvinized or stainless steel body and frame, everything else can be dealt with.

Boxed frame, crew cab, 401 with Edelbrock FI/Ign, shorty headers, aluminum bed with storage built in, NV4500 with Atlas T/C, 33's

Setup for towing/ light trail duty.

I have the basics for this, minus the big bucks hardware, though it is a J20. Then again... with Gas as it is....

J10 Stepside with 258/T5. SPicy Crower Cam, 4.0 head with EFI, Blow through turbo (lo boost). JetHot treated turbo and exhaust.

Setup for highway hauling and Daily Driver duties... light trails.... I am well on my with this one!

Have a great weekend,

Jesse

I am truly blessed. I already own it. Tequilla runs, starts, stops. Has a working radio and a 7 ft. bed that never has to be made.

I don't know of anything else I could ask for/want.

I'm already building what I want. Fuel injected, reliable, yet simple motor. Manual transmission, 4x4, A/C, nothing fancy, short bed, just something plain and simple. Nice, not perfect, but not rough around the edges.

My dream J-Truck would be a V8, 5 speed (with a granny low, dual t-cases that I'd rarely use, but would "need", D44 front, D60 rear, air assist bags at all four corners. 60/40 split bench seat. A/C, short bed, an extended cab would be cool, but not real do-able. This one would be shiny, chrome, tow, and go.

My other dream would be a bone stock Kaiser J-Truck, prolly rat rodded. Mechanically fit and dependable, but well worn looking. Indian blanket seat cover, (maybe even bull horns on the front), and a shot gun rack with a O/U and a S/S. No A/C. Manual steering and manual brakes, a Man's Truck.

My other dream would be a nice resto-mod Willys Pick Up.
