My J10 is a 1/2 ton 6200 GVW. What is the heaviest slide in camper I can safely put on it?

If you have a 6200 GVW....
I would figure the truck to weigh in at 4500 lbs. No more than 1700 lbs. You could put some more springs in the back but then you chance over loading the axle and decreasing your braking capacity much less the lean that you will get going around the curves. Look into some of the pop up slide in campers - check those weights.

As an FYI, I had (sold it/traded it on on a 34' MH) a Palomino B800 pop up truck camper that weight around 1,100 lbs dry weight.

Yes they do. The J series beds are only narrower at the bed rails, so there may be a few more inches of the camper sticking out on each side but it is still 48" between the wheel wells- the width of most pickup beds.

Yeah, my Palomino can be ordered with a "Dakota" floor width to fit inside Dodge Dakotas, which is a bit less than 48" between the wheel wells.
