Has anyone put in a 3rd row seat? if so, what seat did you use, how did you mount it, seat bealts, does it look remotely factory? Front facing or rear facing?

there is a site that used to sell the third row seat and it shows a couple of pictures of it, i think it is rear facing www.grandwagoneers.com (http://www.grandwagoneers.com)

One option is to use a pair of side-facing benches, and cut the floor pan to install a dropped footwell where the spare tire normally sits.

A Jeep tour outfit up here does that to create a 9-passenger Wagoneer.

I put a Scout rear bench in the back of my Chero.
I put it in backwards, and it fits pretty good actually.

Didn't bolt it down, just put it in to see what it looked like.

has anyone tried to use bucket seats in the "middle row" and use the stock true back seat as the 3rd row seat?

I have buckets in the middle, but I am not sure how well the original bench would work behind it due to the cutouts for the the wheelwells.

If I think about it tomorrow, I will go measure the third row seat in the Burb. I would think that a square seat like that would be a better option.

I assume that you only want it for kids right? Since there are no feet holes it would be pretty uncomfortable for an adult.

Yes, I want it for kids. My family might be growing soon via marriage of my g/f. I was also thinking of a seat from a caravan. sit a bit higher though, but have seat belts built in.

I'll try to get some pics of mine. The guy I bought it from had a bunch of kids so he had someone build a third row bench. It faces the rear and matches the interior. I'll probably end up removing it, but haven't yet. I'll see if I can get those pics...

I was in the process of doing this to my 91, and then had to sell it for various reasons.. anyway...

Take the 2nd row seat from a matching interior Grand Wag, Try to get all the seat belts and seat belt mounting hardware while you are getting the seat.

The stock 2nd row has some indentions in the wheel wells where the seat bolts go, this gives clearance for the seat belts. You can either try to add the same indentions into the rear of the wheelwell, or modify the mounting hardware a bit, or the seatbelt mounting. Your choice. This is where I stopped as I ran out of time.

The middle seat belts mount to the same bolts as the 2nd row seats.

The last part of the equation is the hinge for the front of the rear seat. you can use the stock pieces for this, however since in the stock location the bracket is mounted to a 45' angle, they work slightly different, so removing the rear seat has to come out at an angle instead of straight up and down... but work fine...

However I didn't like how when the 3rd row seat was out those hinge brackets were in the way for cargo. so I was working on figuring out a way to use something else. My thoughts were to put in some serious cargo tie downs in the corners of the cargo area and then weld/attach some bracket to the seat that would then attach to the tie downs. That way when the seat was removed all that was left in the cargo area was the tie downs (very useful) and they would be at the corners not in the middle like the hinge brackets.

best thing to do if interesed is get the seat and hardware and belts and just slide it into the back of your truck and go from there...

Note there is very small legroom back there. heres a pic, it is just sitting there not attached..
