I'm not familiar with the 6 cyl, but thats the the same thing I just did to my 360. As I was getting my parts, I was wondering if it was an over the counter swap for the 6's also. I got 2 of everything he lists, with the exception to the wires, mine were basic furd 351 set and not lifetime warranted. All said and done, It cost me a hair over $300. VERY noticeable difference!!!

Sorry, I did not answer your question. HEI puts out 50k volts (looked at the one BJ's sells) and his is only rated for 35k. I'd say no, not better, but cheaper and easier if you have to be checked.

I paid $99 for the HEI Distributor from 4wd Hardware, and have been very happy. Since we do not have visual inspection in OH, I figured it was not a prob. I have many friends in PA who have done the HEI, and have had no prob with inspection that I know of. I am not familliar with this kit, but I can tell you I would do the HEI again. It was an easy install. Only took an afternoon.

So, do I HEI or go this route?

I think I would do the HEI. It seems to me that all you are doing there is putting a hopped up ignition coil on. I have been told buy many race motor builders, that putting a hot coil on a stock motor will not help, and only burn up the coil. For $10 more I got a brand new billet distributor, and got rid of the silver box, and coil which were troublesome at best.
