I was looking at a 78 waggy that's had a part time conversion. How does it work? There was no lever inside. Is the front d shaft always turning or does it use the stock e-drive switch to activate? Also does anyone have any experience with this conversion? Is it stronger or better than q-trac? Thanks

Milemarker P/T conversion completely replaces the Stock QT center differential with a new one. It utilizes the E-Drive vacuum switch in the glove box to go from 2WD to 4WD.
If the P/T kit installed, but not manual locking hubs... yes, your front wheels will rotate your front shaft consistantly. The used of manual locking hubs is not mandatory with a P/T kit but may save you 1/10 of a mile in gas and most of all wear and tear on the shaft u-joints.
I have not had any problems with my QT unit... but I HAVE to go to a P/T kit due to my driveline angle... http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif I'm gonna miss it..<sniffle>

other than that, its not any stronger. one big prollem wit the QT is that the chain constantly drives both the front and rear outputs,or constantly the rear in a converted p/t unit.one big advantage is that you can now run regular atf instead of the special, magic $10 a quart QT fluid.
i have had one apart, and it is a nice sturdy unit.would be handy for people who put on alot of higway miles in good weather and dont need the full time operation,or for people who have lifted their rigs soooo high that their front shaft cuses vibes http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif .
the QT does have an undeserved bad rap, prolly due mostly to negligence.replace the cahin with a good one at the regular intervals and use the correct fluid, and you prolly wont have any trouble with a stock or part time unit.
the full time is nice,IMO,for snowy, icy weather, and also for wheelin,to eliminate driveline bind.its cool how low range is accessible in full time, and since full time becomes 2wd in a p/t QT it has rwd,rwd low,4wd,4wd low. pretty cool... http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif
