I picked up the 14BFF to swap under my daily driver Suburban, but who knows, it may end up under an FSJ eventually.

Bought this pinion guard from www.diy4x.com (http://www.diy4x.com)

It is a stout hunk of metal. My only concern is the partial welding on the inner area. Might need to have the welds completed.

Not a bad deal for $75-shipped. Hardware was included.

Honestly, I dont think adding more welds inside will effect the strength at all. Does it include longer bolts?

Lets hope the inluded hardware is longer... :D :p

And yeah, I am with Stuka, I am sure it is plenty strong...

I would bet those welds are not finished so that you can get a wrench in there. ;)

I'd ask a pro welder but it's my understanding that thats done that way to reduce chances of stress cracking in the corners. Same as when you sleeve something you dont want to weld all the way around the end. Dennis

there are a couple of local hardcore wheels in my area that have that on their 14B and they can take a linking and keep asking for more. its definitely a good protection piece for the yoke.

the pinion guard that i have from great lake offroad is welded similar. i dont think you will have an issue with it failing.

I think the great lakes off road one is about $15 cheaper, too.

My Suburban will only have a Dana44 front and 35-36's for a while and won't be wheeled very hard ,at least not until I (If I do) get a 60 for the front.

So, I shouldn't have any strength issues with the guardsman. Not by a longshot
