Hey, guys:

While I've been crawling around under TweetyBud lately to get her going, I realized that the TH400 tied to the block of this Chevy 350 is a little (alot?) weird. Rather than having a flat horizontally oriented housing around the converter for the cover (like a Jeep th400), it's got an angled bottom housing that exposes more of the converter before the dust covers are installed. Only problem is, there's no covers!

If I send some digital pictures to one or more of you, can you help me figure out what kind of covers I'll need?

Sitting Bull looked under this thing, and said it looks like the block part of the bell housing has been cut and welded...could this be some form of mutation between a Jeep th400 and a Chevy th400???

If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it...reply with email and I'll send you pix.

Thanks!!

Ive seen tweety bud up close and personal too and I would swear that's what they did. It looks like to make a amc/q trac th400 adapt to the chevy motor they stuck in it they literally cut out the section that mates to the motor and welded it to the corresponding tranny. Its hard to see but there is a weld bead that runs from one side up and over the top to the other side.

Trick:

Mike confirmed from my pictures that at least the bottom part of the tranny is plain old chebby th400...probably from a 80-83 4wd truck. But I was unable to get any good pictures of the weld bead. Thanks for chiming in...I'll see if i can do my best controtionist act and get a shot of it for the Tranny Gods...

HeeHee.....thanks guys!
