Has anyone used the low back bucket seats (Bestop or Steal Horse) out of the 4WD supplier catalogs as replacements for factory buckets in a FSJ?

My main concern is the size of the seats. Are the backs as high as the stock buckets?

Thanks in advance.

Can't say about size of either but I wouldn't buy anything from Steel Whores w/o first looking at it live and in person. Everything I've seen from them was 100% pure junk.

I agree with you 100%. A friend of mine bought some stainless steel stuff from them, it was RUSTED when we opened the package. For those who don't know stainless doesn't rust. When I had my shop we finally refused to install anything from them as the fit, finish and quality was so bad.
Why do you want a low back seat? If anyone ever hits the back of your Jeep it won't even come close to supporting you.

So what is a good replacement seat?

My '77 Cherokee has low back seats too. Not too crazy about that in case of the rear ending thing.

Any suggestions?

I currently have the low back power seats in my Chief. I looked at the high back GW leather seats and they looked like they would bolt right in, but the only problem is that they do not fold forward.

I also looked at replacing them with TJ or CJ seats that fold forward, but that would take some modification to the seat brackets and then the power would not work anymore.

Hopefully someone will have a suggestion for us that is fairly easy to bolt on....

Look here for some good replacements, Procar seats (http://www.procarbyscat.com). They have a few models, and average $500 to $650 per pair, and have seat brackets.
