What type of front driveshaft did you use with your dana 300? one with U-joints at both ends? or did you switch the output yoke?
I saw in an earlier post that you said the fine spline D20 outputs could be used. I didn't know there were fine and coarse splined d20's. Where does one find the fine splined ones?
Thanks

i have never had much lift,so im able to use a non-CV shaft with no prollems.
even with a lift, youll prolly have to worry about the diameter if youre putting it behind a 727,so youll want to compress the passenger side and make sure the shaft you use doesnt touch the pan.
i do know that you can use the fine spline d20 yokes, but i have no idea where youll find them.if there is a method to the madness as to what years/models used what,i havent figured it out. weve got different combos of fine/course yokes front/rear in our collection of d20 parts, but you can never tell for sure if case is factory when you pull it.
as a general rule, the older the case, the more likely it is to have ther course yokes front and rear. most of the newe(late 70s) seem to have a fine spline front, but ive seen late 70s cases with both fine and course rears. cj and scout cases will not have a cv yoke for the front shaft.
hope that helps some smile.gif

Thanks,
This is married to an sm420 in my 74 J10. It's got 4" of lift. It's a pretty tight fit past the ribs on the case that have been ground down a little bit (I'll probably have to grind them more). The problem that I was having is that i don't have a non-CV driveshaft lying around, and the ones i've found so far were $100 and up (before changing the length).
I found out that the front output yoke from a quadratrac should bolt on to the dana 300 and allow me to use my CV-shaft up front. I'm gonna pull the front off of my 79 and check it out.
