Hey All, I'm going to replace the brake booster on my 78 J10 to a 83 J20. Where can i take it apart? when i took the one off my J20 I took everything. I unbolted it from under the dash. After looking at the J20 the adapter looks the same. So my ? is do i need to unbolt everything from under the dash or can i just unbolt it from the spacer (adapter) and disconnect the connecting rod at the pedal. This would seam to be a little easier. What do you guy's think?

Thank all.

I find it easier to do under the dash, it is real hard to get to the nuts that hold it to the adapter when in the truck. You may also find that your J20 has a Dual Diaphram booster and your J10 would be a single. If this is the case you may see a change in pedal and stopping performance. I think the Master Cylinder and Line size is also different, if you plan on swapping that as well.

Ditto what CJ says. I installed a booster in my 87 wag not too long ago and the adapter/booster bolts would have been all but impossible while it was in the car. Only real access was under the dash.
