My newly aquired '79 waggy is idling pretty high. I really have to hold the brakes, which aren;t in the best shape either, at a stoplight to keep her from pushin the little cars in front out of the way!!So I can't find any adjustment screws, granted I was four beers in when I looked tonight but a liitle nudge in the right direction would help.
I need to know also what kind of carb this is, which way to turn the screws and any heads up anyone has on this particular set-up. She sits pretty with a 360/th400/ no idea what the t-case is/ and d44's front and rear.
Back from vacation, spent the day with the wife, tomorrow is Jeep day!!!

First off is it a 2bbl or 4bbl? It shouldn't be too hard to adjust the idle. Pull the air cleaner and follow the throttle cable to the carb. There should be two screws that adjust how far open the throttle plate is at idle.
One of the screws is for high idle and the other is for curb(?) or regular idle. The high idle screw won't touch the throttle plate unless the choke is on. From there it should be pretty easy to adjust the one you need out until it idles where you want it.
Also make sure you choke isn't sticking. It may be staying closed just enough for the high idle screw to catch and keep the motor running fast.
Good luck,
Anthony

It's a 2 barrel, sorry, I forgot that. Thanks for the tip, now I just need to find out what the t-case is, and...oh, so much more. BTW, what does the abbreviation for a carberator mean? I see it most often as "bbl" as in "2bbl".

You should have the Quadra-trac Borg-Warner case.

Right, I know that that is what BBL stands for but why? Like th abreviation for pages, as in homework, is Pp., again why? Really, I am just curious.

Webster says
3 : a drum or cylindrical part: as a : the discharging tube of a gun b : the cylindrical metal box enclosing the mainspring of a timepiece c : the part of a fountain pen or of a pencil containing the ink or lead d : a cylindrical or tapering housing containing the optical components of a photographic-lens system and the iris diaphragm e : TUMBLING BARREL f : the fuel outlet from the carburetor on a gasoline engine
So, it's called that because it's round. Not very profound.
Sometimes you also see 2V, for 2-venturi. That's a lot more descriptive.
best regards  Tim

Don't know. Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
