I should preface this that I bought this stuff to go with the '79 Ford Dana 60's I am trying to install .... that I purchased impulsivly without much thought ...
So I bought a NP-205 that had an adapter on it.
Then I bought what I thought was a 2 wheel drive Ford T-18.
And I thought I would just have to get the tailshaft to connect the two, but alas when I compared the 2xtail housing to the end of the housing on the 205 I was surprised with a slightly different bolt spacing, same configuration, just a little different spacing....

I was not to thrilled with that, so I started to research what I actually bought ....:omfg: .... here are pictures of the various sides of the tranny...

And the t-Case ..

I am starting to think I may have a T-19 from 1985, but I am not positive and have found it difficult to find a good resource to ID the ID Tag. I have no idea where the NP-205 came from but am irritated that the bolt pattern differs....:banghead:
Any help/info is appreciated......
**edit** Would Ford really make 2x and 4x have different bolt patterns? The only other thought is the 205 is MUCH older......

It definately looks like a 2wd trans with having the speedo gear and threads for the yoke. "E5" would be from 1985. I have a 1985 NP435 from a ford 4x4 and it bolted right up to a 205 from 1976. I don't know when ford made the switch from t18's to np435's but if they're 4x4 trans's they should be the same dimentions and bolt pattern. I can see the adapter not fitting a 2wd box.
Is the t-case with adapter you have from an automatic?

That adapter on the 205 is called the "butterfly" pattern. You will need a 4wd T18 or a 4wd NP435 to bolt up to that 205. That is the factory adapter that goes between the tranny and t-case. The output of the 4WD tranny will be long, about 7-8".
And that is a 2wd T18, since it has the splines for the speedo sensor.

Ok, so I am gathering the output bolt pattern for a two wheel drive T-18 IS DIFFERENT that a four wheel drive T-18.
Those engineers are retarded, why in the hell would they change the pattern 1/4" for the different application.

From looking at your tranny I would say yes, but I've never really looked at a 2wd T18 or NP435. I usually let the experts at Novak tell me what to do.
On the beck end of the 2wd unit, all you need is a housing for the speedo sensor and a "tunnel" for the slip yoke.
The only other option in my mind is if that tranny is for a divorced mounted transfer case. (And I got nothing for you on that).

That 1/4" just kept food on their (engineers) tables for another 6 months. My real guess would be added strength for the transfer case even though 1/4" seems kind of minimal.

The first picture is the 2wd housing removed compared to the adapter on the 205, that was when I realized it was a different bolt pattern. I don't think I will going through the trouble of a divorced set up. I have another line on a complete tranny/t-case. SO I will probably be trying to sell this and make it someone elses problem.
2wd T-19 for sale!!!!

What ratio is the first gear? I am thinking its a T19 that would have had a BW t-case bolted to it. I dont recall T18's being available in 85. It was either T19 (syncro first gear) or NP435 (non syncro first).

stuka your right the 435 was available from 80-86 right before the zf tranny was introduced in 87
the ford t19's were 4-1 first gear

The reason I beleive it is a T-19 is because http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/t18_t19.htm has the following information:
"The T19 transmissions are equipped with dual PTO ports. An individual may find the cast numbers of 13-09-065-911 in Ford T19's."
That matches the ID Tag (exactly) and dual PTO's. Plus I found several sites that say the 13-09 casting on the case is a T-19. What none of them mention was the differing bolt patterns, which gave me pause.....

Does anyone know what the bolt spacing is on the back of a NP-235? I am thinking maybe the adapter I have on the NP-250 came from a non T-18/19 transmission and that is why I have the discrepancy in bolt pattern.
T-18/19 and NP-235 both ahve the same "shape" bolt pattern, but I have been unable to locate dimensions on either. Obviously I can measure the one I have, but I need the other ....

Answer is pretty simple. The bolt pattern on the T18 and the NP-435 are not the same.
You have a T18 (or T19) trans, and the adaptor bolted to the NP205 is for a NP435 trans. The bolt pattern looks the same, but is slightly off.
It might be easyer to find a 4WD NP435.

WOW!! I just went outside and looked under my truck to make sure my drivetrain was still there. Oh thank God. Good luck blowing that combo up. It should last a long time.
