what is the reason no one runs the AMC 390 in a wagoneer or cherokee. are they hard to find,parts not available or are they junk.

They are like hens teeth. 401s are far more common and are basically the 390 with longer stroke / taller deck (343 is to 360 as 390 is to 401). But even the 401s are much harder to find than 360s.

also,they have a non-compatible crank flange,as they ran the B/W automatic in those days. the T400/TC727 torque converter hub won't fit.
390s' were high compression,they'd not like todays gas.
i thought i read long ago some very late 390s' had the newer flange......?

They're worth far too much to the AMX, Rebel Machine and SC/Rambler guys. If you had one, you could sell it and help finance a nice 401 or really nice 360 and you'd never know the difference from the driver's seat.
