$3000 for the case
$240 for the th400 adapter
$?$?$ new 32 spline output for your th400
$?$?$ installation of said output

so is $4000 a safe estimate?

I would expect that the output shaft to be no more than $200, so then it all depends on the cost of the tranny work.

Here there is a guy who sells rebuilt th400's with the TC and a shift kit for $450. I just have to give him the tailshaft that I want IF he does not already have it. They come with a 2yr/24000 mile warranty. That seems like a good deal to me.

Sooo, if I were to go this route, I would be looking at $3700-$3900

It is pricy, but may be worth it depending on your desired use vs actual capability. I checked into the A4 but when I found out there is no definate date that they'll be available (may be over 6 months), I switched back to the pricy but more affordable A2. (4-6weeks lead time). :)

that's what I went with. The A4 is wicked, but I will do just fine with the 2-spd.

I ordered a 4 speed atlas back in january and still have not received it. It is on back-order until June. Seems like an eternity. I ordered the 10/1 gear case, I guess their having a hard time making good enough gears to hold up to the low gearing. Just one more month to go.:banghead:

you will have to let us know how you like it. i dont really feel like spending $1500 to put the same case in. Do you guys think my axels can hold up to 6 or 10 to 1 ratio? 33inch tires 3.07 gears.

Like DMNTXN stated, you're looking at roughly $4,000.

issues to address :

- tranny rebuild with correct output shaft (contact Advance Adapters and ask about the right shaft to use, there were several different 32-spline output shafts used in GM TH400 trannys but I'm pretty sure Advance can make a case that will bolt up to any of them.

- driveshafts. you can go the cheap route and have your stock shafts rebuilt for a few hundred$$ or have some built by a reputable shop. www.4xshaft.com (Tom Woods) is one of the best.

- you might need to have your tranny crossmember modified for fitment

- quadratrac offset rear Dana44 axle. You might want to consider swapping in a widetrack Dana44 rearend from a J-truck or Cherokee that originally came with the T18/Dana20 tranny/T-case combo for the centered differential to keep your driveshaft angles fluid, since the Atlas case has a centered rear output as opposed to the Quadratrac's offset output.

Personally, unless this is the 1st phase of a massive buildup where 1-tons and much bigger tires are in the works, I think the Atlas 4sp might be overkill for you.

What are your plans for this rig? Weekend warrior/daily driver or dedicated trail rig?

yeah i think for know i will just fix the quadratrac. i haven't yet been on a trail where i didnt have enough torque to get over something plus without the chain slipping i should have better power too. I'll put the 4spd in the dream pile along with the dana 60's.

I got the Stak 3 speed case. You should check it out if lead time is an issue.
