I have updated on all the work we have been doing little by little. I installed a new alternator and discovered there was no spacer behind the alt on the top bolt. I put one in it today, and it seems to have smoothed the idle up alot on the truck. Must have been moving more then we thought.
My neighbor and I, neither of which are body work guru's descided to do a little prep work to get the jeep ready for the bed liner I am going to spray on the outside. We cut out the 2 rusted spots on the rear quarters, cleaned all the rust, cut and formed new metal. We glued the new metal on the inside and used some pop rivets to make it strong. I know this isn't the right way, but given what this truck will be used for, this is just to keep the exhaust out. We then put 2 full cans of undercoating on the inside of the rear quarters. It all looks nice on the inside, and shouldn't rust any more since I spray some stuff in there to seal the rust before the undercoating. Hoping to pull the rest of the carpeting out of the back in the next few days and lay down some variation of a bed liner on the inside panels. My neighbor wants to make some new rear panels to mount the speakers in. Hey, if he wants to do the work more power to him.
i have descided to use color matched bedliner on the lower part of the body, from the hood seam down basically and on the entire tailgate. I want to color match it pretty close to the factory brown color as well as repaint up to the rain gutter in the stock paint color. I want to remove the roof rack and paint the roof a light tan. Has anyone seen anything like this. Any idea if this will really looks good and not just in my head?
