If the answer to this is obvious and dumb, sorry.
Can you use longer shackles on a J truck(j-20) to gain a little bit of lift. I am not talking gaining 2-4 inches just like 1/2 - 1" of lift. I know you can on a CJ not sure on a FSJ. My J-20 is not at my house so I can't check, just never heard of it being done so.....can it be done? and how wide are J-20 springs.

thanks

I used a drop shackle for a Chevy pickup on the front of my GWag.It lifted it more than I thought. These shackles are used to lower chevy pickups. Bolts right up, no fabrication needed.

I have heard a lot of people say that shackle lifts are bad ideas on FSJ's. This topic has been tossed around various lists before and from what I gathered, that was the general consensus. Now, the mechanics of it I do not remember so I couldn't tell you why its bad  sorry. Can anybody else around here pick up the ball on that one?

I ran a 1.5 inch lift shackle for about 2 months and had no major set backs. It did rotate the pinion on the front axle a little too far. This can of course be fixed with a shim. The factory rear shackle on a Z71 is 1.5 inches longer than our so it will yeild you a half an inch of lift, or rusty makes a shackle for the rear of XJ's that fits and it will give you about 1.5 inches of lift. Also a comanche rear shackle will give you about an inch lift. I thought about putting my shackle back in for a little lift after I add a winch and bumper.
