Hey all, my bro-in-law picked up a 85 wag that was running just fine. Grated to start it he needed to trun the keyswitch then hit a push button that the PO wired into it. I have replaced the key switch and the ingtion switch with no effect so we kept the push button thing.
Well, he was driving to work one morning and the power steering pump bracket broke, sending the pump into the fan. No real damage but now, the darn thing won't start. He replaced the carb, coil, plugs and wires. We also replaced the fuel pump after he broke it trying to get it back on the Jeep(don't ask). All this seems to be working.
Since I had to come up to Wwashington, he ended up taking the Jeep to a shop to try and get it fixed. They had no luck either and told him that it might be the wires.(after having the Jeep 9 months)
I know one time when we were trying to get the thing to fire off, I smelled that electrical burning smell but saw no smoke. I felt the wires on the left side of the engine(as you stand in front) and they were all hot!!
So now, is my option to find him a good harness for the engine compartment and for the key switch so he can get rid of that dam push button thing??
Please help, if I don't give him some tips on getting this FSJ fixed, we are going to loose a potential member!!
Thanks
