I figured out that the reason my Window won't go up or down in the J20 is that the track is missing. My parts Jeep has a perfectly good window on a perfectly good track, but I have no idea how to swap them. I coulda swore there was a Technical Note on doing this somewhere on the site, but I can't find it. Anyone know how to change the track and window, or where the giude is?

Power or Manual?
If power, search for flex track and the like.
If manual, just start taking it apart, ain't that bad, just time consuming.

It's manual, but the problem is I don't know how to start taking it apart.

The door panel is completely off, and I can see the mechanical components of the window. Furthermore, at some point in the dim past, someone already disconnected everything from the window - it only has the channel underneath attached to it.

I don't know what to do next. Do I muscle the glass out of the channel it's mounted on, or am I supposed to remove the tracks on the sides? What is the last step?

I had that problem on a 72 Gremlin. I found a donor and just swapped out the doors. It was faster and easier. That was in my drinking days so I didn't mind the different color on the door. Gremlin was tan, and donor door was RED. If you can repaint the donor door, that may be the easiest way for you. Good luck

Good luckSadly, while the doors on the J20 are not fabulous, the doors on the parts Jeep are much worse. I was very surprised to find the window and bottom channel in such good condition.
