Well I finally got the interior stripped out of my 77 today. Some kind of nasty seats, crappy carpet that someone had used about 1000 gallons of contact cement putting it down. I knew I was in for a real treat when I got under it to start removing the seat bolts. Only 3 bolts per seat. Not in factory holes. Hhhmmmm........ Looked as if someone had laid a thin sheet of metal over the rusty floorboards.

Remove the seats, wrestle the carpet out, and oh no, not sheetmetal. Someone has laid in some fiberglass in both floorboards. Oh probably 3 sheets of material or so. UUggggggghhhhhh. Pulled it out, got disgusted, and called it quits for today. Some people!

I really need to work a new mig welder into the budget for this thing.

ummm it wasn't me, though I have been guilty of using fiberglass to patch small holes in floors after I cut the rust out and seal it.

Would you do that and then run a seat bolt down through the fiberglass so thats all thats holding the seat in?

Oh no...not me! That stuff gets welded!

No what usually get filled are the extra screw holes from a P/O or flat spots in a trunk/floor...places where I weld a patch panel now with my MIG.

I did use fiberglass to mold a Nissan hood scoop into a 66 Mustang, but it was fun.

Not the best shots, but those I still have on hand.
When I sold the car, I gave build-up pictures to the new owner.

Man when I started pulling the olg floors out of my M715 I found lots of fiberglass, body filler or an equivilant puddy, and all the seams were attatched with marine caulk. Isn't it fun to see how other people do stuff.

"I stopped caring what other people think when I realized how few actually do"

That one seems to fit the bill.
