frikkin frakin driveshaft!

blew out the front diff driveshaft pinion seal the other day, leaking gear fluid pretty good.....bought a new seal, started on taking off the front driveshaft, strapbolts out, but the **** u-joint won't unseat. the haynes manual skips the step on how to get the d-shaft off the front differential pinion. then i gotta take the pinion off the front diff, and i can't find a socket for the pinion/spindle bolt....seems to be 1-1/4" or 1-1/2"......any suggestions?

To dislodge the U-joint, try prying between the joint and the yoke with a suitable bar. The pinion nut is 1-1/8", use a big pipe wrench to hold the yoke while you turn the nut. You'll also need a puller to get the yoke off... :cool: . Have fun!
