So I might be swapping the front D44, rear 12bolt and transfer case from a late 70's chevy 1/2ton 4x4 into my waggy that is already SOA.
I've built lots of rigs and know what lies ahead of me.
My question is:
Will the stock transfer case from a late 70's chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 bolt into my waggy?
I realize that it will be a passenger side drop, but I plan to swap in all three at the same time.
My waggy has the stock 727 and np229 now.

there is really not much benifit to swapping those axles, the 12b rear is a little stronger than a 44 but not by much.

Sell the '70 Chevy, buy a 3/4 ton or 1 ton Chevy and start swapping. Then it would be worth the trouble.
Or just get a Jeep NP208 from someone and wheel it. It'll bolt up.
What are your plans for the Wag? You're already SOA, but what tires are you going to run? Lockers? What I'm getting at is whether you need to swap axles/tcase or not. Give us some info and we'll steer you in the right direction.

I'm currently running stock springs SOA, 3" BL and 37" MTR's.
Looking for a heavier axle for the rear, preferrably a 14bolt or D60 because they are FF.
I'll be placing an order to BJ's pretty soon for a set of 2" lift springs.
I will be running 40's and will be towing dirt bikes on a very small trailer. Not too much wheeling (IMO), but will definately do more 'wheeling than the average person. No hardcore wheeling.
I'm not interested in hearing about how evil light towing with 40's and a BL are, so please don't chime in about that.

If you're going to have any power or gearing for those 40's, you need a beefy rear axle at least. 1/2 ton hardware just won't cut it unless you like to fix things more than use them. Get some 8 luggers and get to the track without problems. I assume your 229 doesn't work or you anticipate it sucking. Get a Jeep 208, a driver drop Ford front D60, and a FF D60, D70 or FF14 for the rear and call it a day. If you find an old Ford 4x4 that's 3/4 ton or higher, you know it'd be cheaper to buy that whole thing.

Dont even bother with those axles. As mentioned above, find the proper ford (78-79 is best) so your t-case drop is correct (swap in an NP208) so you have a D60 or D70 rear and an HP D44HD and a D60 rear. Although the D44 front wont hold up to any heavy wheeling. And the D60 rear will ned 35 spline shafts to hold up well.
And the t-case would be an NP203. The range box could be nice, but the rest is junk.

Transfer case won't work as has already been noted. Sell the parts you aren't using from the chevy to help finance a dana 300. It will bolt up to your tranny with no problem, and with the soa and lift you should have no problem clearing the front shaft. Other option is to locate a th400 for the wag and swap to a dana 20 for the passenger side drop.

if the truck is an auto, next scenario might be to buy a trans adapter and run the chevy trans and transfer case.

Thats what I was going to suggest find a 80 and up dodge 3/4 or 1 ton and steal the diffs and t-case as its the easiest for all the parts you need.
