85 J10 What do you think?

A buddy of mine's dad has an 85 J10 258/4spd, needs an engine (spun a bearing) has the usual rust on bed, doors and flares, needs floorpan on drivers side. They told me that the ac was working 5 yeqrs ago. He wants $900.00 is this a deal? My DD 360 is killing me at the pump! What could I expect as far as mileage with the 6? Thanks!

No it's not. Pic's would help but based on your description, I'd offer to haul it off.

No deal...offer them scrap price...250 or so. Rust + blown motor = parts rig or a wrench-a-thon and either way 9 bills is way too high.

I paid a grand for a nice really clean J10 from MS. It has a seized I6. For the grand I figured that would save me time now, and down the road chasing the rust cancer and body work. Adn the more I take this apart the happier I am on how clean this truck really is.

If this one is ate up, AND a seized motor, lower your offer. Or better yet walks away.

There are decent trucks on here; that run, for that kind of money.

Milage with a stock 360= about 10 to 11. With a 258? I got around 13 to 15. Not a huge difference.
