I am about to get the Wagon on the road after sitting for a few weeks from working on the motor. I had the Quadratrac rebuilt just recently and I understand there is a procedure I need to do to get the Quadra Trac properly lubricated with the new Quadra Trac fluid. The original owners manual mentions something about driving in figure 8 patterns with each fluid change?
Any tips you can advise?
Mine has the low reduction unit.
You should drive in figure eights for about 10 minutes. Book says 15 but 10 should do it normally but again with a brand new rebuild I'd go by the book. Some folks don't do it at all as the clutches will get lubed eventually anyway but w/o doing the fig 8 thing you're prematurely wearing the expensive clutch cones until they get properly lubed. When you do this don't go hard over on the steering either.

on my 79, I found that if I did the fig 8 thing both forward and backwards with the steering @ full lock that I felt very little driveline binding when doing the tight parking lot maneuvers. I did this almost every 6 months, and never had trouble with the case. Just keep the correct lube in it.

gladiator;
... I'm sure you already know this but I thought I'd clarify your statment about driving with the steering turned at full lock for others.
... Most power steering systems can be damaged by turning at full lock for extended lengths of time. For the some of the young drivers just starting out. The proper way is to turn to full lock then quickly back off a few degrees of the turn.
Have a good one, http://www.michiganjeepers.com/forums/images/graemlins/wave.gif and … CUL.. Don S..
