Tomorrow I am looking to buy a 77 Wag with the AMC 401 and a th400 transmission, and I think that it has the Quadra track transfer gearbox. What to I need to look for?
I already have an 83 but with a different tranny and transfer gearbox. So I really not familiar with this set up. Is it a full time full wheel drive? Can I put manual locking hubs on it?
it is listed for $2000 what do you think is reasonable? Here are some pics. Tell me what you think. Oh ya the floor shifter is not hooked up but the one on the steering column is the working shifter. Could be cool though, once completed.

I would say smoke on his hand from where you snatched the title from him so fast! You can get a part time kit from Mile Marker to convert the hubs to part time.
Congrats on a great find!

Make sure it's really a 401 by looking at the numbers cast into the block. Don't put hubs on a Quadratrac Jeep unless it's been converted to part-time. Unlocked hubs will destroy an unconverted Quadratrac.

Pardon my naivety, but with that center console and buckets is that a "Super"?

It has Super Wagoneer style seats and console. Check for the 401 casting numbers on the engine for sure.
You can put manual hubs on a Quadratrac rig. You may not want to though. If you do, just don't unlock them while the transfer case is in normal drive. You can unlock them when it is in Edrive to get 2WD.

WOW!!! It has a shifter on the steering column and one on the floorboard. That's way to many gears for me to keep track of....bet it's got one He77 of a crawl ratio.
:D :D :D

I think that it was a super wagoneer "clone". He added the console and maybe even the seats but I don't know I will find out tonight though. Any thing else to look at?

I know Adam and this vehicle. It's a 401. He has gotten some Super parts and added them and other stuff thats cool. He has a lot of time into it and I'd say 2G is very fare. He's only selling it because he wants to build a 2nd garage for his FSJ hobby. BTW, he has a rare set of Wagoneer delivery doors (whole rear clip)for sale also.
