Good morning!

I was wondering how your rides are insured? How much?
Now that my Jeep is pretty much restored I've been looking for an appraiser but I'll have to go out of state to get one. Grundy Insurance will take your word for it up to 20K though.

I really like how my jeep turned out and I'd hate to get into an accident and have them hand me a check for $250.00 or worse!

How are you all insuring your rigs? How many have antique plates?

Thanks for the input!

Bev

HELLO BEV!!!!!!
STILL HAVE TO FIND TIME TO COME AND SEE YOU GUYS..

BEEN WAY TOO BUSY TO EVEN THINK ABOUT A ROAD TRIP.

MY CJ IS INSURED WITH HAGGERTY WHICH IS THE SPECIAL INTEREST AUTO SECTION OF ENCOMPASS INSURANCE, WHICH IS ALLSTATE.

THE RESTRICTION IS THAT IS NEEDS TO BE GARAGED, REGISTERED WITH THE STATE DMV AS SPECIAL INTEREST, AND HAS A MILEAGE RESTRICTION. IN NJ FOR THE SPECIAL INTEREST REGISTRATION THERE IS NO INSPECTION BEYOND CHECKING THE MILEAGE WHICH IS LIMITED TO 2500 MILES A YEAR. MY 81 CJ7 WHICH YOU HAVE SEEN IS INSURED FOR $15,000.00 AND IT COSTS ME $240.00 A YEAR WITH A LIABILITY LIMIT OF $500,000.00. NOT BAD. GIVES ME PIECE OF MIND WHEN I DO DRIVE IT. NOT THAT $15,000.00 WOULD COVER THE COST OF BUILDING IT BUT IT'S BETTER THAN THE " BOOK VALUE " OF $3500.00

HI
Good morning!
Hmmm mileage restriction.. It doesnt seem like a full proof plan does it? In my day I used to unclip the odometer cable when 'borrowing' my father's car.. ahem. anyway...
I will definitely give them a call and see what they can do for me. "Rho-Dylanders" are notoriously poor drivers so the odds are definitely against me keeping it pristine.
Come on down (up?) when you're ready, I still have all 4 bumpers and you can pick and choose when you visit!

My Wag is insured through Allstate with a "stated value" policy. I have reciepts that more than cover the amount of the insurance. I couldn't use any of the specialty companies because it is a DD. I don't remember how much the premium is since I have it with my other cars.

Mine is through Farm Bureau. I have the works liability, and collision. I also got some extra coverage for fallen trees or branches, and for deer. For some reason that isn't covered on regular liablilty or collision. Don't tell my wife but she didn't get the extra coverage on her car.

HA! Deer insurance as a separate peril? WOW. I thought that 'deer vandlism' was under normal comprehensive? Don't let your wife find out by reading your posts! Can't you say you hit a really really big dog? Oh man!

it's probably what everyone calls "full coverage," which is liability, comprehensive, and collision.

collisions with animals are comp claims...where hitting something while trying to avoid hitting an animal is an at-fault accident. if you have a choice, hit the animal. your rate will thank you. :D

my Jeeps are liability only, the car is still financed so it's got comp and collision. skipped rental coverage since i got backups i can drive if i have to.

I have USAA. Cost me 50 bucks every 6 months for liability.
