transfer case question

I got an email from a guy about my 1988 GWAG for sale. He want to know if the transfer case is working properly. Now I dont want to sound dumb but I have only used the 4wh drive switch under the stearing wheel. Is there a test I can do to give this guy a honest answer. Would I know If I am having transfercase issues other wise?

put it in 4wd and take it to a dirt road and see if the front end is pulling. Then put it in 4lo(must be on soft ground for this) and see if it works. You will know if it doesn't.

If the switch under the dashes is not working then you can't even get the transfer case in 4lo. If you can get it in 4lo everything is fine with the switch. As far as the transfer case is concerned, if you put it in 4lo and drive it for even a few seconds on the street or dirt you'll know wether it's working or not.

The "4wd" light in the dash will come on, if the wiring and switch are also working. That's only on the '86 and up trucks.
