I have an '82 wagoneer with the original bucket seats. They are broken down pretty bad. I am wanting to buy new bucket seats. Does anybody know what kind would fit it?

There's been quite a few threads about which seats will fit. You could probably find some info by doing a quick search.
I've also heard that a few years of mustang seats will bolt up.
Don't worry, someone will come along soon with all of the answers.. smile.gif

I put a steelhorse seat on the drivers side in my '80 chero, it bolted right up to the existing mounts/sliders, On the passenger side I put one in from my subaru, ('cause I'm cheap) it was a pain in the Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley to fabricate a subframe to bolt to the mounts, if i had it to do over again, I'd just buy 2. (about $180.00 from 4 wheel parts wholesalers) check out my site for pics (its under "armrest")

I run the Corbeau Baja SS seats. Absolutely the most comfortable seats I've ever been in. You're hard pressed to get me out from behind the wheel on trail rides, even long ones.

Was the Steelhorse seat the one for a CJ or ???
Just wondering what bolts up. Also wondering if they make one that flips forward so people can
get into the back.

(you're all going to laugh at me)
I put Tenzo seats in my Chero. they met all my requirements:
$160/ea
comfortable
the fabric was better quality than Corbeau
they have harness pockets
they flop forward
and God forgive me, I thik they actually look decent.
it also makes me giggle to use ricer parts in a 2 ton land mass of a vehicle.

If i am not mistaken, (no telling) the subfram which fits into the rails can be removed from the seat itself, leaving essentially a square metal frame that you could attach almost any seat to. Then again, I have the electric seats, and that may make a difference.

Oh, and i have seen a Chero with Chevette seats that looked pretty sharp. . .

sundowner,

no problem, i just looked at them and i am thinking 4 buckets in the wag with a third row seat might be very cool...

Had to do little drilling but I got a pair of Ch*vy Z71 pick up seats in mine. They look great with seat covers on them. The burgundy color doesn't go with the brown/tan color of the rest of my interior.

I tried, and liked, 1984 Turbo T-Bird power seats with very little modifications.

I later found leather Plymouth Conquest turbo seats for $20 in excellent shape. I loved them so much that I made them fit.

Almost anything can fit in there (except your living room lazy-boy) with only minor mods.

I saw a great job, in a J-10, using leather Cadillac seats with armrest.

Advice: Be careful when drilling on the driver's side due to the gas tank sitting only 1/2 inch under the sheet metal.

Do a search on ebay for seats. I picked up a set from a 2001 civic that were brand new for $35,Though with shipping it was more like $100. Had to have a coupla metal plates cut to mount to the stock pedestals, then mounted the seats and honda rails to the plates. Pretty easy job with awesome result. With a little engineering you can make almost anything fit......phil

I stuck some brand new Bestop (for CJs) into my Wag. Bolted right in by lossening the supports a little from the floor, tightening the supports to the seats and then retightening the supports to the floor. Worked great took me about an hour to put both seats in. They are super comfy and i love the side supprots in them... a little pricey at about $160 each - but very sweet once they're in...
