I have a 6in lift on my 83 J-10 and I am thinking about putting a two inch body lift to it. Is there anyone out there who has done that or a 3in body lift. If anyone has had that combo, then what kind of problems did they have. I don't mean with rusty bolts but with the steering or hoses. I was just wondering what else I should exspect when putting it on. I was also wondering what size tires you were able to put under it. If you have done this or something close please inform me of what your combo is and show me a picture. Thanks and I look forward to your response. Here is a picture of my truck with the 6in lift and 32's.

I did 3" body on my waggy. Made room for a lot of things. Had to lengthen shifter linkages. Hoses, steering everything else were fine. Nothing wrong with a good, properly installed body lift.

I want to know what do I need to expect with an already installed 6in lift with 1in shackles on the front.

You would be taller. :D Should expect the same thing as if it's stock suspension. Suspension lift doesn't change anything mounted between body and frame.

I did a 4 inch sus lift and 3 inch body years ago on a 79 J10 and currently have a 6 inch sus and 3 inch body on my Wag. If properly installed it will be no problem whatsoever. The 2 main issues you will have with a body lift are the shift linkage and bumpers. Both are fairly easy to fix. Take you shift linkage apart at the firewall and in the straightest area cut it in half and weld in a 3 inch thick walled pipe or solid bar. As for the bumpers you can take the bumper bracket loose from the frame and have someone help you raise it up to where it fits right and weld the brackets back to the frame or you can make custom brackets. I love the body lift because it gives far more room for changing plugs than the stock height gives. To me it was worth the trouble just for this very reason.

X2 one what Chrom-Dude said..

There are a lot of people that throw down the hate on body lift with no personal experiance. If you want to be cheap and stack 3 hockey pucks and use galvanized bolts, yeah, expect problems. If you put install a proper BL with the proper hardware, you should be fine. I personally would not go bigger than 3" though.

I removed my 3" and replaced it with a 2" recently. I have SOA, but here is a pic with 38.5"s... Not that it is really that comparable to your rig..
