FSJ are VERY rare around here, and I've been looking for one to purchase for some time.
Today, I saw one driving down the street and decided I would follow for a bit and try to talk to the owner. I lost them in traffic, but drove past a wrecking yard and there was one sitting in the 'in' lot awaiting processing.
It's a bit of a heap, but perhaps salvageable. Needs a grill, one taillight, and two side windows. But, if it runs and drives it just might be worthwhile. I talked to the owner of the lot, and he didn't know the story on it. The body is basically straight (but rusty), and the registration stickers on the license plates were for March of 08. He thought it might have been a vehicle donated to charity then just sold for scrap.
Did I mention it's rusty? It looks like there is a rust hole on the drivers side frame rail near the rear axle spring mount - I assume this is the common area that is solved with the BJ's repair kit?
Anyway, I'd love to see some pics of loved but Rusty FSJ's to either scare me away or inspire me to save it.

If the passenger side front fender is in the same condition as the drivers side I'll take them both!

Yes. On the later Wags, the fuel tank is plastic and supported by a steel 'skid plate'. Looks like a coffin. Very common for the plate to rust and also the frame rail next to it. Auto Rust Technicians makes a kit that saves some time and trouble - might be what BJ's is carrying.
Another common rust area is the where the body mounts sit on the frame rails and across the back. Then there's the usual body rust all old cars get in the salt zone...

Thanks NoGrain, I wasn't sure if that frame rust was common on the drivers side or passengers side, I wanted to make sure I wasn't looking at something odd.
The guy didn't phone me back today, I'll have to check back tomorrow. At this point, I'm thinking its a buyer, even just as an experimental truck to learn about FSJ's on.
I'm not sure what year it is. It looks like a GW, but the fender badges say Wagoneer Limited. From what I can tell these were available in the early 80s?

Hey Ryan, I live in Edmonton and the odd FSJ will pop up if you look hard enough. I was in Red Deer three days ago and ther was a 80 wagoneer limited for sale with a 4 inch lift and the typical rust problems on the waggys ie; behind the wheel wells. The guy wants 4500 for the it, the interior is in amazing shape.
The only problem with buying anything in Alberta is that guys think everything is like gold here and they ask wayyy to much money for their rigs. My advice to you would be to check Kajiji every week and something will pop up. I'll take a look today for you and see if I can find anything else kicking around Edmonton.

Ryan your're not going to believe this, but I found about 6 FSJ on Kajiji for Alberta, Saskatoon, and Manitba, I had them all listed but when I hit submit reply my log in had timed out and I lost the whole list. Just to got Kajiji and have a look around.

Thanks Hot Rod,
I'm been watching Kijiji llike a hawk - I'm really looking for a GW, or a Wagoneer Limited with the full wood. I'm not totally against an older Wagoneer, but I need 4 doors.
That J truck looks like a decent deal though.
In Saskatchewan the out of province vehicle inspection is crazy. They can fail a vehicle for undercarriage rust! I can't imagine tryong to bring an older waggy into the province.
I really appreciate you looking. If you see anything, please let me know.

Ryan I know this may seem like a long way to go for a waggy, but I was on craigslist last night and I found countless jeeps in the Washington state area....so many it was making me sick to my stomach!! lol And cheap as well.

Ok, here's one for you. My '69 Gladiator. Most of the rust is in the bed, came from the original owner hauling fertilizer on the farm. I haven't been using this truck for over 8 years, so it looks pretty beat in the picture. It really is way more solid than the picture shows it.
