I've had Bridgestone MT's on my Dodge and like them a lot. They howl a bit but I can't hear it over the motor so it doesn't bother me.

I am leaning towards the most aggressive AT's I can find for the Jeep. I don't go muddin' very often, most of my offroading is limited to hunting a fishing trips a few times a year and the beach.

Most of the name brand AT's are 75.00-100.00 bucks, will I find good tires cheaper than this?

Depending on the size you want... I think the best bang for the buck is the BFGoodrich ATKO's. For an All-terrain, they're really decent. They last a long time, good tire carcass, and I think in the 30 or 31x10.50 size, they're about 99 bucks.. maybe a little less.

That's relatively cheap considering my next set will cost me at least 250 bucks a piece!

To other readers : Anything good about MT Baja Claw's ? They look really good, but feel awefully soft. they have the ^ tread.

I'm running some Rebranded Big O XT CTs (CT = Commercial tread) up here in canada Crappy tire sells them for like 100$/tire for 30"ers (actually measure 30.5") Called the RoughRider M+S or something like that, decent wheeling tire too!

costco has their own brand of bfg at, made by bfg (actually michelin for about 11 years). they look almost exactly like the bfg. they are in the low 80s, mounted, balanced, 60kmi treadwear, road hazard, etc. thats what i will be going to when my bfg ats fail inspection this year.

If you really want CHEAP, then the Pep-Boys specials are 4 tires (any size, including 33" last I looked) for $269.

I have no idea about their quality, but on price, they're the lowest I've seen.

The Baja Claws suck. If you go through mud, none of themud will come out of the tread, so they become slicks. Same with snow. If all you want is looks for hiway, go ahead and get them, but they wont last long do to the soft compound.

The baja claws are obviously directional but I too wondered about the shallow angle of the chevron pattern. The best "directional" tire on the market is probably Ground Hawgs.

You can get a great selection and the absolute best prices from Sam's Wholesale or Costco. Tire Discounters and Pep Boy's will match prices from other installers except for those two. My Goodrich Long Trail T/A's ran $59 apiece with installation. I also bought my Goodrich A/T's from there 2 years ago but I can't find the receipt to show me actual cost. I do remember they were about $20 apiece less than the next best price anywhere else.

Good Luck

I've been running a set of 31-inch Sport Kings on my cj for two years now. they've got a rather agressive pattern for an all-terrain that works pretty well in mud. The tires are made by BF Goodrich and cost around $100 apiece.

Also, I've bought two sets of used tires through eBay -- Michelins both times, one set for my GW and another set for a friend's Blazer. Got great deals both times.
