spare tire carrier s15

i was looking at one on a s15 blazer that a kid at my work has, i was wondering if anyone has tryed or has used one on a FSJ. its the swing away type. mark

Is it the kind that bolts to the body of the truck?

jeep had one that came as an option on some rigs. the biggest problem is the weak sheetmetal especially when used for anything larger than the stock size tire.

i have s-10 blazer with 12" of lift and 33' tires.
i can say that it sucks in my book. i had 31x105.x15 on it trail ridind and it damaged the body in both places where it mounts, the tailgate from bouncing around, and the side where it mounts because there is no rubber stops on it when swinging open.

If I used one I'd put some plate behind it to reinforce it... but I'd rather have one built into the bumper...
