Starting with an '84 GW.
I have all the parts to do the build, so I have finally started. I can promise that the direction of this build will be different than anything else on here. Probably a different direction than anyone on here would go. I'll share where i'm going with it as I make progress.
Drivetrain -
hp dana 44 up front 4.56 yukon gears - arb
dana 60 out back 4.56 yukon gears - arb
360 .30 over edelbrock intake
TBI setup
700r4 2wd
Ford divorced 205
Tires are the only thing I haven't bought yet. Can't decide on bfg muds or MTR's, but will be 35/12.5/15's

The rust around the rear side windows was so bad that I pushed the windows and seals out along with all surrounding metal by hand.
I wouldn't have used a primo wag for this project.

Wow, thats crazy.. I wonder how it got that way... From the pics I cant see a drop of rust on the rest of it..
So you are keeping your plans a secret?

Oh, its on the list... I have mentioned it several times. However, I am not going as extreeme as this one yet. I am just waiting for the time because I want to try to make it a removable hard top when I do hack it..
I've been hashing out the details for a while now...

Well the other side fell off today. 2 inch bodylift arrived today. Not real happy with using a bodylift, but I am trying to tuck the 205 up a bit so I can get a little more clearance underneath. I'll get more pics up next weekend when I move the rear suspension back.

You could cut the floor pan rather than putting on a body lift, or as one of our European brothers did move the frame mounts up to the top of the frame

I'm running a divorced 205 with cable shifters behind a 2wd 700r4. I thought about cutting the floor, but where it sits would be in a crappy spot to remodel around.
Now to find a bronco fuel tank so I can bury the coffin.

Fuel cell is a possibility. I want to put my tank in the area where the spare used to sit. I just have to see what I am working with after the axle comes back. Bought a spare dana 60 to use for getting this thing together. The 60 I will be running won't be back together for a couple of weeks and I want to keep moving forward.

Al hes running a divorced setup, so im assuming the 205 lands just about the center of the the front seats and the rear seats if you drew an X through them, probably just about the lowest part of the body.
So if your running a divorced setup, how much further back (or foward) would you need to move it to make it a 50/50 split? Instead of extra u/joints, you could carry an extra driveline loaded with u/joints.

I am trying to get the transfer case level with the bottom of the frame rails instead of hanging down like a hook. The body lift is to give me space to get it in there without cutting out the floor.
No real reason to carry an extra shaft or components with the divorced setup. Just build the short shaft strong the first time. The breakage usually occurs on the gear reduced side of this setup.

This is what Blinkinlights and I are going to do with his 87 make the front driveline and rear the same length and just carry a spare shaft. It also helps with the extra long pinions on the mog diffs

Hmmmm. Mog axles.... Now i'm drooling all over my keyboard.
My teardown is done. I'll post the new pics tomorrow. I will be starting the buildup next week. Starting with extending the rear of the frame about 14" and moving my rear suspension back a little bit.

Well the build took a twist in the middle and slowed down a bit while waiting on parts from ballistic fab. Still waiting on most of those parts, but i'll get pictures of where I am now in the next day or two. The rear of the wag is gone, frame and all. New rear frame is built and partially installed. Dana 60 has the truss setup on it for the 4 link. I have most of the pieces and parts to put my front axle together - Ford dana 44hp.
Waiting on my j truck bed donor for the bedsides.
Told you I was headed a different direction
