Thinking of a color change for the J20.. Beige/Cream?? Pic Request..

Well, it is looking more and more like I WILL keep the J20, and the wife is pretty sure that it needs repainted.. :thumbsup:


I may stick with the doo doo brown, but I am thinking that a lighter color would look better. Also, I dont want to pull the doors apart to paint the inside (not right now at least) so I need to pick a color that will still look OK without changing the inside painted surfaces.. Plus, not all colors will look good with the nutmeg interior either..

So, beige or cream is all that I can come up with. Didnt AMC have a color like that that they used on these things? Can any of you post pics of rigs (preferably J-trucks) painted a beige or cream color???

I'm particularly fond of the arctic white on my 77 wag. I'm gonna do my 77 Jtruck in the same color with black accents when it's time to paint. I do have to admit that two tone trucks looks the best, tho.

A santiago gold wouldn't look bad with the poo brown either. My dad's 72 jtruck is cream/white on top and a copper/gold on bottom. I like that scheme.

i like a desert tan with white steel rims, like that jt concept. but my favorite stock color is dark gray metallic w/ black stripes.

Although, its only cool on my Cherokee because it goes along with the Golden Eagleness. Without the Golden Eagle or Honchoness I could see how it wouldn't be as good. ;)

I think that the brown looks GREAT on the GE's too... It does match very well with the stickers...

However, I am not a huge fan of the Honcho graphics in any color. However the more appealing ones to me are brighter colors like blue or red.

I saw a brown over white J10 with a brow, in PA on Saturday in I80 coming back from MASS. Look good.

Ummm, I can get away with baby blue on the Cheif because the rest of it is so manly, but I dont know about the J20.. I am sure it would turn heads though.. :rolleyes2:

The brown over white looks great, but it's backwards from a practical POV. White above would be better - the white roof is cooler, and the solid colors (especially white and earth colors) are very much more weather resistant than metallics. The top surfaces will get lots of sun.

That one gets my vote! My first color pick would be Grabber Blue but I dont think that would go with your plans.

My first J10 was that dark metallic brown and it is my favorite from a color standpoint. There was an amazing difference in its appearance after I had it repainted and the metallic was shiny. I'd stick with the original color; changing color is a pain and expensive! If you want to see what the paint really looks like look under the carpet, behind the door panels or someplace else that hasn't been in the weather for over 20 years.
