A few weeks back somebody said that 62 Buick headlamps looked like they would fit the Rhino conversion in place of the small inside lamps. I think I have found a place that I can get a couple, but have to be sure of what I need. Can anybody tell me what model of Buick in 62 had the lamps that would work?? I know I will need the buckets, lamps and beauty rings. Thanks for any help ya can give me.

Don, so far as I know a 62 Buick used the same headlights as every other vehicle. I don't remember them being any smaller anyway?
You might check into mounting a set of sealed beam tractor/utility lights. I'm not sure what you call them where you live but they're in a rubber housing and used on some tractors and some vehicles(mine) for back up lights. They don't throw a lot of light though but prolly pretty close to the size bulb you're looking. I've also seen early FSJ's with either fog or driving lights in place of the fake vents but don't know which brand was used but they too where the sealed beam type.

Actually I was thinking of going to a 4 light headlight system...like the old days when cars had 2 low beams and 2 high beams. Weren't those lights smaller in diameter than the newer hi/lo headlights?? I really want to use the buick lights, because I have heard that the buckets and beauty rings were almost an exact fit, that is why I was trying to find out who it was that seen them and measured them. I may have a place to get the 62 buick lights if they fit http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah Don the quad headlights are smaller bulbs than the dual headlights where the hi/lo is in the same bulb but I think even those might still be a bit big?
So far as which 62 Buick I'd think all of'em from the Skylark up to the Duece and a Quarter Electra prolly had the same buckets/trim rings etc.

Check the "Invicta" lights. As I recall the Invicta had an angular styling to its front end and the smaller lights were the inboard pair. Been a long time since I've seen one though. I also notice the VW Golf GTI has a set of smaller inboard lights though there is no chrome trim around them. Maybe you could use the trims around the elements on an electric stove.

Ok, the Invicta I was thinking of was an earlier model. The 62's seem to have both sets of lights of the same size, Couldn't tell from the photos how big they were. Just have to get some and check it out. Should be able to find some at the local NAPA store and check them out.

Actually, that was me who made the discovery. At Columbus Auto Repair Services the owner Ceasar has a 1962 Buick that he's restored. While talking to him about welding on the repair panels I brought him (bought from Raybucks), he pulled the cover off the Buick and all I could see were the headlights!
Okay, the ladies know that's just the way I was made...
But further homework revealed that all 1962 "full size" Buicks had the same four-headlight system consisting of 5-3/4" headlights, each with a separate chrome bezel. It would be a perfect fit for the smaller/inner pair of openings in a FSJ front end. I think GBarrett already got a set, but I'm not sure. Hopefully he'll post something.

I'm here. When the lights and trim I ordered didn't show up, I called the boneyard in Oklahoma. The only trim rings they had were double ring trim pieces. They "forgot" to call me and tell me, but none the less they didn't send them to me. The ones I had fabricated were just a simple flat ring. It's ok, but not what I wanted. I've given SERIOUS thought to making a wooden mock-up using a wood lathe then using that to make a mold so I could make a pair from a plastic of some sort. I'd then take that to my local chrome plate shop. I was told they could plate anything, so I'll let y'all know what happens.

Thanks Ralph, this is what I was looking for. I knew someone had measured them and such, just couldn't remember who it was http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
