Going to camp Thursday night in my old small tent from when I was single. If the wife, whose idea of camping has been her daddy's motorhome, survives that ok I'm going to get a bigger tent. She's really up for it; not having to MAKE herself go. That should help. We're staying in a cabin with my first cousin and his wife Friday and Saturday, but we wanted to go up early and get some 'caching done beforehand.
If you're interested in family fun, try www.geocaching.com (http://www.geocaching.com) and start something new to use your vehicle for. We love it.
Can't wait to post pics of the Chero loaded up and ready to roll... it'll probably cost me $50 in gas each way but it'll be so worth it.

It does look like a lot of fun!! A lot of people do it around here.
PS: there's a big difference between a 29.99 tent and a $125 tent..glad I upgraded :)

I have a 14x10 cabin style tent, but she's only about 5-1 and isn't strong enough to help me set it (it's old style with aluminum poles that you have to "raise"). I'm going at least 12x12, 14x10, or maybe a little bigger, with shock corded poles and a central hub of some kind. The Sportsmansguide has a Coleman 14x10 for $100... and I can get it in four payments. We'll see. My old 8x8 was about $70, but it was a nice one.

I was wondering why you need such a big one, but I guess down there it'd keep cooler. Up here I found the smaller the tent the less frost you wake up covered with
That $100 coleman sounds like a good deal!

It's nice to have a place to go during our all too frequent afternoon rains. Also, at my age, it helps to have some extra space. I also have a daughter, and my cousins love to camp. Kind of nice to be able to have everyone together. When I camp I set up nice and plan on staying for awhile... quick camping was for my little 8x8, which we're taking this weekend.
