I just figured it out yesterday, but my new (to me) J20 has delay wipers, which is GREAT news up here in the PNW...

I didnt know because the knob looks like all the rest which you turn to the right for low and high.. BUT, this one when turned to the left becomes a rheostat for the delay mode..

Now, I am sure that this is no big news to you guys who have one of these "fancy" knobs, but it was news to me!! Maybe they all have it, but out of all my FSJ's none have done this before.

So, I guess I can stop looking at the ugly aftermarket ones huh..

Very cool.
Not much rain here and when using the wipers it would be nice to have them sweep only every 90 seconds or so.
Wonder if it's possible to swap to an older rig? (I have no clue how those things work)

my 80 j10 has them. :bluelaugh:
I didn't know it, and asked ristow about the black box under the dash. I didn't even know delay wiper was an option. MY 79 cherokee has them, but im not sure about my 78 cherokee.

That's good, but I hope yours work better than mine did. The delay was ok, so was the normal operation, but when you turned them off they would only quit when they got good and ready...

you can add them to 79-85 models. Just get the delay module and plug it between the stock wiring terminal and the switch itself and voila, intermittent wipers.

For 78 and earlier, I believe you have to change out motors / harness and switch (but not 100% positive yet)

I'm doing a aftermarket setup from JCWhipmee for my 77...I have one 79 and up delay setup left, but don't wanna goof it up experimenting..
Anyone made the conversion to earlier rigs?

Here's what I got from JCWhipmee..

My 79 Cherokee had one similar that the PO installed..

Other than being bulky, it worked just fine.

I got the wiring harness, switch, and motor from a '79 to see if I can adapt into my '77 J. Wish the wind would quit blowing, I hate cold fronts not having a garage.........

I wanna go check my cherokee now! Spring break is almost over and I can finally get home and work on her! (and check on said switch)
