the rotors are still good but the pads are about to need replacement. is there a recommeded brand or material to use? comsidering the front does most of the braking i don't want to skimp on them. thanks

Raybestos is a good brand. Stay away from the metallic and semi-metallic stuff. Just get the good old regular brake pads. The metallic stuff dosen't actually stop you any better, it'll just extend pad life and give you annoying squeals when you brake. Plus they're really hard on rotors, and FSJ rotors are not cheap as far as I can remember.

Rotors $23 each at Autozone for my 82.
I'll be installing Albany pads on my Wag tomorrow or the next day or whenever it isn't raining.
