ok guys...my dad has a 63 J-200 with a 10 miles on freshly re-built 230 tornado with a 3-speed tranny...he has over $4,800 into the engine alone (w/reciepts) and all that needs to be fixed on it is the 2 front brake slave cylinders, and a slave cylinder on the clutch. both of those either need to be rebuilt or replaced. He's lookin to sell it and is currently in washington state but he really doesnt know how much is a fair price for it...i was there when we picked it up and i cant remember any rust on it whatsoever...we picked it up south of las vegas in the desert after the engine was done he drove it to our home and loaded it on the trailer headed for washington where it sits now...any info or suggestions for a decent price would be greatly appreciated...thanks again guys...

oh...here are some pics from when we first picked it up...keep in mind this is PRE motor rebuild...

Wow, your a brave man to ask us cheap b@stards how much would we pay! ;)

In reality though, you can get more by having receipts, but your probably not going to get very much over that on these rigs.

I have three grand invested in a new motor on Terra, but I doubt I could get half that if I outright sell it...probably cuz she ain't pretty :D

If he does try to sell it a big pointer would to be to clean her up inside, out and underside. Most of us don't mind getting dirty to look, but we like to see what is under all the gunk without getting our street clothes trashed.
Spend a few dollars at the car wash to make quite a bit more in most cases.

It has the 2bbl carb, that will help the value some... if it had a Thriftside bed you could probably get more for it. Since he took it to a State where those are a dime a dozen it's not going to be easy to get anything for it in WA.

I hate to say it, but even here in the rust belt, you would behard pressed to get $2000 for it. Probably more like $1600.

Yeah that's gonna hurt ya there. I'm in WA and agree with Elliott. Sorry to say your dad dumped some serious money in a motor there is absolutely no demand for. :(
Even with a fresh 230 the non-stock gauge cluster, iron bumper, swapped steering column etc is gonna hurt....bad clutch rendering it not totally test drivable hurts too. The hyd clutch stuff can be had from NAPA though.
I'd guess you 'might' in time get $1500 for it here...maybe? Not raggin on ya but I'm reasonably familiar with these rigs and WA FSJ values too. Just trying to give you an honest "opinion" of what it might be worth in WA anyway.
Good luck though the truck has potential depending on entry cost.

Is that instrument panel stock? I've seen a couple of older J-trucks with it...

Unfortunately, your Dad will get more money for it down south, but not much more. It is a nice truck, but that's the reality of it.
