Transmission application question

Will the 727 trans bolt to an AMC motor or only a Chrysler motor? Also, where on the motor do I need to look for Serial #'s to identify it.

If the 727 came from a Chrysler it won't bolt to an AMC motor. The AMC 727's have an AMC specific bolt pattern/case but the internals are the same as a Chryco 727. You could swap it's guts into your AMC 727 case.
