The pump doesn't leak, but makes the whirring sound as if it where very low.
Its prob. got 149,000 miles on it.
Steering is okay. I've tried regular pow. steer. additives but the sound is real annoying.

Time to replace, or does anyone have any home remedies?

Mine does that too, and the fluid level is right on. I've noticed that it almost only does it in the mornings when the air and engine are cold. Let's hope this isn't another catastrophe in the making!!!! I've had enough for one week.

I had a car do this same thing and it turned out that air was getting into the system somehow. If the fluid has a milky color to it, this is probably the problem. I was told that the noise was the power steering pump cavetating.

I fixed mine the other day.
I installed a stereo. Dont hear any noise now, HEHE.
Dont wory bout it. they are cheap at Kragen so keep it full and wait till it blows up. some bone head PO probably used tranny fluid like on mine.

oh yea milky white fluid i think means water contamination.
