Trying to decide what wheels to put on the Cherokee. So far the the only ones I've found that stand out to me are American Racing. Anyone one with suggestions post up some ideas. Here's some that I've come up with. The truck will be painted solid black.

AR-1085

both the 172 and the 23 look good, i like the 172's the most, look more classic.

BJ's now offers the Muscle Mag's. They look like the stock oval 5 slots, but these are bigger and look badass, but have that oem look to it. 17x8 is the rim size they offer

I found these on tire rack a while back. At 109 a piece, they look kinda cool to me. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=6235883BML&wheelMake=Granite+Alloy&wheelModel=GA9&wheelFinish=Flat+Black+w%2FMach+Lip&showRear=no&autoMake=Jeep&autoModel=Wagoneer&autoYear=1978&autoModClar=&filterSize=All&filterFinish=All&filterSpecial=false&filterBrand=All&filterNew=All&sort=Brand

Ryan, tsk-tsk... I think there is a 1 week automatic ban policy for posting crap like that.

Scott - You will find something I am sure. Now if I was picking from the 3 and someone else was writing the check, I would take 172.

If not, there should be.

I have the same dilema. I am not a big fan of the white wagon wheels on my Chero. I like the idea of the 172's myself. The 23's look good as well. You might try something in a 7 spoke if you can find it. For some reason, the odd number of spokes speaks to me.

Hey I like the top one, the 1085...that looks and says Jeep...though it's six slots...it's way cool....

It's a good looking wheel but just doesn't make me go WOW when I imagine it on the finished Cherokee. Still not gonna throw it out of the mix just have to do some more day dreamin about it. :D

Another thing to throw in I'm putting a 6 inch lift on the Cherokee (no body lift) and a tire no bigger than a 33x12.50. So the wheel size will be either 16x8 or 16x10.

I have something similiar to the AR 172 on my GW and I like the look. On my Chero I have the stock steel chrome wheels that I removed the cloudy clear coat from. The GW aluminium wheels are a pia to keep clean, the chrome spokes on Chero clean up easily.

On my Chero, if I ever upsize the wheels, I am sticking to the steel chrome spokes.

I was going to say "round and chrome", but I do like the AR-1085.

I like the traditional look of the 172s... I think I like the 23s but it would be nice to see a photo of them mounted on a Cherokee.

I think the 1085's would look good. The 1079's are nice, but everybody has that type, not very original.

I think the ALE-886-60060's would look great. Traditional spokes, not overly bling, beadlock type outer rim design. Otherwise I like the 1079's too.

these are cool.

Bah you know you love the spinners :P :P

6" with 33x12.50 is going to make em look tiny and will require some annoying and expensive upgrades. 4" with that tire on a WT looks good on mine..dunno.

American Racing 1606138 all the way. They give it a clean look that is a bit more modern but doesn't change the character.IMO

personally i hate the fake beadlock look. it has 'H2 mall poser' all over it.

and while the classic choices you first post always look decent on just about everything, you'll notice they are on just about everything. where is the fun in that? ;)

I hate a "fake" aspect of a lot of these wheels (fake beedlocks, fake rivets, etc). But I do like the 924 Cruiser, even with the pointless socket heat bolts.

When I was into the Jeepster Commando, another owner had a set of steel wheels widened out to 10", and then used the stock hubcaps. Since the wheels were widened to the outside, the hubcaps sat deep in the wheel. It was a very sharp look. I tried to find a picture of it, but I can't seem to find his build page anymore...

I found some Hot Wheels licensed wheels somewhere ( )
one time when I was looking for wheels but can't find them again (  )... they were super blingy yet macho enough for a FSJ.

I'm changing my vote to the Moto Metal Wheels - 955 Chrome

Those pro comps would look nasty (in a good way) look into some Mickey T's those and the Mickey T Baja Claws would be sweet alos Maxxis makes a good tire the BIG HORNS.

Doh! I didn't even check that. I'm thinking about putting them on my wife's Ram and neglected to see if they came in the right pattern for FSJs.

whats wrong with the chrome wagon wheels on it? wagon wheels are my favorite, i kick myself almost everyday for not getting my black rockcrawlers in white like the stockers. i guess at the time i was into the stealthy look.

I still like the old Panthers...the highly machined, bling look of the new style wheels don't seem to fit the old trucks. IMO of course.

This pic is from the grandwagoneer.com website. I think they're pretty clean-lined and would look better with some beefier tires:

I think that picking a set of rims should be compared to what tire and purpose of the vehicle...If you are gonna be doing alot of offroading with your FSJ and it is painted black, I would look at all black rims with an aggressive lug pattern on the tire...makes it look mean..But if this is gonna be a stock rig, I would look at the chrome rims with a street tire...I think the chrome turns heads off the trail....But I wouldnt take chrome out to the trails its too expensive to tear up and to keep it looking clean and shiny..."Chrome wont get you home..."..I just like black rims, they are easier to appear "clean"....I also like to have somewhat color scheme to my vehicle, like my yj is all black and white(including black rims) and I have a tan 85 GW i plan on black bumpers, black rocker guards, black rims, and tinted windows...so it will be all tan up top and all black from the bumpers down....to each there own...

I plan to use it as a daily driver with a little off roading. I like black wheels on certain vehicle setups but as for cleaning they are the hardest of all wheels to keep clean. A buddy put a set of 20 inch black wheels on a ext cab black Chevy and after two weeks he hates them. You can wash the truck then drive it across town and the wheels are covered in brake dust along with all the other dust floating in the air. I'm thinking a set of Goodyear Wranglers mounted on polished or CHROME wheels would really set it off.

I always like American Eagle Alloys. They have several simple/classic designs.

Here are the 17 inchers that I just put on my new J20 (its a pre-lift pic )
