If there is someone out there who has the desktop dyno could you run some numbers to see ho much power my motor has. It has a Holley 670 truck avenger carb, Offenhauser dual port intake manifold, a comps cam magnum cam, and a mallory HEI. Just an estimate to see what my AMC 360 can do.

What are your cam specs & I will run it for you.

Is this rear wheel horse power or flywheel. What do I need to do to get more horsepower, without loosing torque? I was going to buy some Edelbrock shorties and go to a 2.5 inch exhaust.

It's flywheel horsepower. I just realized that I had the carb setting wrong so here's the correct one.

With that cam and stock (8.25:1) compression you won't have a whole lot of low end torque. I run the same cam in my 401 (9.6:1) and bottom end isn't that great. That being said it's a pretty decent cam for making horsepower though. Headers and exhaust will open things up a bit, as will porting the stock heads.
Here's a graph with headers added.

Here's with headers and cleaned up and port matched stock heads.

Headers, ported heads, 9.5:1 compression.

I really appreciate your help. I am goin to be going mudding most of the time in my jeep, isn't this the rpm you want to be at when you are in the mud.

You can pick them up for $15 or so on ebay. I don't know what they'd sell for at a legit store though.

I bought the Dyno2000 when it first came out at AutoZone for about $30.
Well before anyone else buys it off of ebay (like I did and then got directed to a free download :rolleyes: ) here is the free download...

That sucks bad. I can't believe people pull that kind of crap. I wonder Comp Cams knows people are ripping off their software and selling it on ebay?
If you want a free dyno program that's not pirated, Comp has a free download called Camquest. It's not really a dyno program per-se, it's more for selecting the best cam for a particular application. It's still useful for comparing different parts and such. The horsepower numbers seem kind of inflated though. There's no way I have 494 hp like it's telling me.

Hey Greg...
Care to run one for me as well ? (Im on a mac, so no Dyno for me)
360@.030"
Int = 489"lift / 254*AdvDur / 209*@.050"lift
Exh = 501"lift / 260*AdvDur / 214*@.050"lift
112* lobe center
2150 carb - Aprox 350cfm
Stock iron intake manifold
Stock iron exhaust manifold
Single exit thru a Flowmaster
Dont have the valve opening/closing times, but I could probably get them if it makes a big difference.
Thanks ! :drivin:

Here ya go Kris.

Here's the same engine with a performer intake and 650 carb.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c324/ghinmi/360-2.jpg
Wow... Thats... Thoroughly unimpressive...
Torque is about where and flatter than I thought it would be, but I expected the HP to be higher. I guess when you compare it to the stock numbers that jeep had for that engine its a good improvment.
Thanks,
kris.

If you are up for it i'm kinda curious what Desk top dyno would say with a 401
401@.030
Int = 484"lift / 272*AdvDur / <A href="mailto:216*@.050"lift">216*@.050"lift
Exh = 512"lift / 284*AdvDur / <A href="mailto:228*@.050"lift">228*@.050"lift
112* lobe center
Holley 4BBl - 670cfm
Performer intake manifold
shorty headers exhaust manifold
Single exhaust thru a 3" pipe
Just curious what the computer thinks on that one. if you are up for it thank you

Is this motor otherwise completely stock (compression, etc.)? If so, here's what it looks like.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c324/ghinmi/401-1.jpg
With 9.6:1 compression and ported heads here's what it looks like.

bonehead move, gasket matched exhaust
9.7:1 CR
502 heads roller rockers
you were close enough for the women i date
thank you.
I'll \get you some engine dyno numbers so you can see how close things were.
Bringing it back from the dead...:thumbsup:
Hi Greg.
My 360 bit the dust and Im trying to decide where Im going with motive power. If you wouldnt mind doing more, heres some specs for one of the options...
401
Bore - 4.195
Stroke - 3.68
Rod - 5.858
C/R - 8.7
Cam...
Lift - 489in./501ex.
Duration 254*in./260*ex. (209/214@.050)
Valve timing primary-
IVO -9
IVC 34
EVO 65
EVC -8
Valve timing secondary-
IVO -18
IVC 56
EVO 65
EVC -15
----------------
So, these would be with stock exhaust manifolds, and a 2.5" single exit.
1. 350cfm 2150 2bbl on a stock intake.
2. 500cfm TBI on a performer.
And if you're feeling up to it, one with a 670carb on the performer. :D
Thanks, ;)
