I just got my catalog today and I was wondering if I just get a gallon and go at it or do I have to use their marine clean and metal ready first?

Marine clean is not much of a need...it's similar to wax and grease remover...you wanna get your frame really clean...if that's the part you have in mind? The metal ready is crucial, it etches and preps the metal for the POR-15..I'm almost ready to start using it myself soon, as I have a small quart can sitting here, I'll let you know how that goes. The can also states that once opened you should put a plastic bag over it before sealing the lid, or it'll never open again...sounds intersting so far..

Use as much as you can when you first open it.It is very hard to store.I would get some cans from a paint store and try to split it up as soon as you open it. smile.gif

Also mind what they say about it not washing off.You never know when you may have to go to a funeral two days latter (that's what happened to me).

definitely use the metal ready, it helps. When you go to reseal use saran wrap or any other plastic bag between the lid and the cap.

I also stuck it in the fridge whe storeing it between uses.

Metal ready is important.

A gallon seems like a lot though.

It really does not come off, tried brillo with no success. Go to the bathroom first. get a garbage bag ready for when you are done.

Like I said on another post, with POR-15, FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.

I've used the stuff for years with no bad results except the one time I thought I knew more than the folks who made POR-15. Made a believer out of me!

Buy the smallest containers possible - like was said - very hard to store and keep from drying up.
