I just wanted to get some opinions about a Cherokee I saw today. Body looks rough outside from outside the fence. I called the owner, he doesn't remember the year, late 70 he guessed, thought it had a 304 that ran when he drove it out back and parked it over 4 yrs ago. he''s wanting $500 for it, I was thinking get it and part it out then scrap the rest. I need seats, floors, springs and a few other things. If the driveline is good, my guess its worth keeping for spare parts or swapping material. I think he did some trading for it and just parked it with the rest of the old vehicles out behind the workshop. I just wanted to ask and see if anyone else has done this, and see if its worth the bother. Thanks

I doubt it has a 304 if it's a late 70's Chero, but ya never know what some folks will swap in.

If it looks rough from the outside the inside will be worse. Last ran 4 years ago? $500.00?

I'd run away.

Keep in mnd also that you are talking about a different generation of parts for your current rigs. Some may inter change but some will not as well..

Agreed. A late 70's rig just might have a BW QT, which is a nice case, but completely incompatible with your 82 rig. The pumpkins are on opposite sides. The rear end might swap, but only if the gear ratios are the same.

I'd pass. Esp. if it's in rough shape and he wants $500.

With gas prices going up, they should be PAYING US to take these trucks off their hands!

Thanks for the input all, thats kinda what I was thinking last night too. I may still check it out and see how bad the inside is anyway, can't hurt to look.
