Anyone know the makers of the original style whitewall tires for the Grand Wagoneers?
I've found a couple of different makers, but they're not Light truck tires, they're for regular passenger cars. and, is this OK?
Any suggestions???

I've got Michelin "Rainforce" MX4 P235/75R15 on mine. I can't tell you what brand tire came stock. But I'm sure the size is correct. They are white walls
Weren't they a passenger firestone 721 or 408 or something in a P235/75R15. I had a 89 ranger that had them in 14" and I think that they had 15" for the crown vic's and some other vehicles. (hated them)

If I'm not mistook, and often I am, frou-frou-type GWags like mine came with P (as in Passenger car) radials. No one one the design team much expected them to do anything remotely truck-like.
I have a few friends who are Michelin engineers, and one of 'em told me that whitewalls are created by inserting the white band between sidewall plys, then grinding off the outer layer to make it visible. This is likely why Europeans, who drive fast and are generally more automotively aware than we Yanks, won't use them. They're just weaker.
