Well, I got my engine running good, and now I need to replace the entire exhaust from bwhind the manifolds all the way to the tip. I need a new catalytic converter, and muffler. It is all rusted out pretty much. I am looking for reccomendations for a muffler. I would like it to be a bit mean sounding. :D

The main goal is to get this thing to pass the new emissions we have in Fort Worth. I still need to get an air cleaner, seat belts, wipers, and the exhaust. Any of you local guys know a good shop that will hook up a poor FSJ owner? Would it be worth it to pay for two cats and mufflers for the performance improvement of a dual exhaust setup. This truck does not have many cajones.

I run a single exhaust no cat and flowmaster. It sounds pretty good but not what i'd call "mean". You'll probably have to go with a glass pack. My local muffler shop wanted $750 for dual exhaust

dual exhaust can be challenging because of the side gas tank and rear tire carriers on some fsj's. for you emissions i would stay with a 2.5" pipe , cat and i personally like magnaflow mufflers. both magneflow and flowmaster can be a little rough on the pcket books. but i think with a new system you should go for it.

I just got a dual exhaust system put on my Wag for $550 including 2.5" pipe, free flow cat and a flowmaster muffler. I had to give up my spare tire (I had already gotten rid of the donut anyway) in order to accomodate the two pipes coming out of the rear with stainless tips. Looks and sounds awesome! But best of all though is the increase in horsepower that I got out of the system. I would have paid more knowing what the results would have been!

Cool. I think I will go with the single pipe for now. Probably get a Magnaflow and an OEM replacement cat. The generic ones are not passing the new emission here very well.

Keep us posted on how urs turns out, I think im gonna try ot get mine on wednesday.

Yes the cheaper ones are not passing the new emissions we have here. Of course it depends on the vehicle apparently. They told me some vehicles are having real loose standards. It all depends on what they think the vehicle should score based on it's OEM equipment. I sure hope mine passes after I get the new exhaust. One thing is for sure, these things are money pits. ;)
