Even if (God forbid) I have to drive the TJ - I will be there! Vacation is already approved. :)

But I'd bet you'll see my Cherk there.

well i said i would be their last year with the cherokee but we all no that didn't happen:banghead: :banghead: Dang body shop!!!!!!!! this year will be different. the out side is almost done. the only thing left is the gear change and the motor swap and i'll be good to go and i have plenty of time to do that. so at this point count me in. next year i will have the 77 ready for the trail so i can beat the snot out of it and trailer it back home when dead.

Ok just a couple questions.

How many rigs ussually show up for this event? The reason i am asking is 1 i have a 86 that i am going to try to bring out for the first time and the club i run with is going to be down there that weekend. We are only bringing about 15 vehicles but, we will only be riding as a group on Sat for a few hours.

Next question is there an officail sign up spot for this? I haven't seen anything yet and wasn't to sure how it works. This will be the first time i get to wheel the waggy. I am used to running a yj spoa on 36 irocs. So this should be a good time. The waggy will have a 6 in BJ's lift and 33 Procomp MT's so it should be fine.

Let me know how this works so i can get up with you guys while i am there.

Thanks Tony

Don't worry, there will be enough of us that you will be able to ride with others all weekend. I'm sure there will be a Thur evening/night ride once everyone gets camp setup. Fri morning, afternoon, evening, night rides. Same for Saturday. Sunday morning/afternoon one final trail cleanup/ride.

Well, I MAY be home from the sand box by then. And I MAY be able to convince the better half that a weekend in the wooded mountains is exactly what I need to get over a year in the barren desert..

We have friends in the Lenoir area. How far is it from there? She may opt to stay with them and let me bounce around in the woods if it is an option. She is not much on the camping thing.

How early do you have to know as far as payment and reservations?

(accidently posted on an older thread as I was searching for info..)

5-8 June 08 is still the dates, right?

The 5-8 was unavailable. It will only be held once, on the 19-22. Pretty sure we have it booked, but when we know for sure, we will post up a new thread.

That weekend is actually way better for me (my birthday too!). I haven't spoken up because I've got something important on the 8th that I would feel guilty if I missed. But now....

This may be the year I make it happen. Hey HeadHoncho, want to convoy?

-Bluegill-
03-16-2008, 04:54 AM
I hate to sound like the south end of a northbound mule, but how close to "knowing for sure" about the 19th-22nd are we? I doubt that I'm the only one who has to get a vacation/leave request submitted as early as possible in order to have the best shot of making this trip. My funds for this have already been budgeted, but I'd hate to miss it because the dates weren't 'set in stone' until it was too late for me to get off work. :(

I take my truck through NJ inspection next Monday 14th so if all goes well I will be DEFINATELY going this year. Both front calipers, new tie rod, re-angle front brake lines away from tires, hope I can convine them to overlook my tires being 1/2" over limit. Still saving for ga$ expense.

Looks like I'm definately going to this one. I fixed my frame/body mount and a few other things. I'd like to leave Thursday AM if anyone has plans to convoy from Phila tri-state area. May just have to stop for gas at least 20 times along the way.:(

Right on! Can't wait to see y'all!

SLINKY and Capt. Murph have both made the trip from the tri-state area.

Capt. Murph did it in one of the biggest POS J trucks ever rollin' down the highway. He wheeled the wee out of it..slept in the back..and drove it back to PA.

He's one of my heroes! :fsj:

Then there's MC and the pimp bus!!

I will definitely be there too. I've been busting my butt after work each night on this thing. The SOA is done, new 4.56's and LS's front a rear :D I've still got to get shocks, modify the exhaust to clear the front driveshaft, and some little odds and ends, but thats pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. I just hope it isn't too hot down there, the Cherokee doesn't have AC...

Looks like I've officially jumped off the fence and the only way I WON'T be there is if my truck blows up. I will be replacing my catalytic converter this weekend as it rattles as though there are rocks inside it. Can't even hear myself think while it's idling although that may be a good thing. Looks like I may not be leaving till around noon thursday so leave me a spot for my tent in the Jersey section.:p Is there firewood there or is it BYO?

There is firewood, but cannot use chainsaws unless you have been to the training. So you either have to bring your own (easiest), rely on finding small enough pieces to carry back to camp, or do it the old fashioned way of using an axe or hacksaw.

The ring and pinion that I pulled out of an isuzu rodeo and had installed in my rearend are apparently worn. He was unable to get them set up to a point that he was happy with them. He put it together and tested it and it rattles when coasting. He advises against driving it. I don't think I can get another set and get them installed tomorrow morning..

He worked on it until 7:30 tonight with no luck.

What to do...
